Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

IshmitChat collects minimal data to operate the service:

  • Session token — a random ID stored in your browser cookie to maintain your session.
  • Hashed IP address — your IP is hashed (one-way SHA-256) for rate limiting and abuse prevention. The raw IP is never stored.
  • Approximate location — country and continent derived from your IP at session start, for matching and analytics. City/region data is not retained beyond the session.
  • Device type — mobile, desktop, or tablet, derived from your browser user-agent.

2. What We Don't Collect

We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personal identifying information. No account is required.

3. Chat Messages

Chat messages are stored temporarily while a room is active and deleted after the room ends or expires. We do not read, sell, or share message content.

4. Cookies

We use a single functional cookie (ic_uid and ic_tok) to maintain your anonymous session. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

5. Third Parties

We use ip-api.com for IP geolocation (privacy policy at ip-api.com). We may display Google AdSense ads which may use cookies subject to Google's privacy policy.

6. Data Retention

Sessions expire after 10 minutes of inactivity. Analytics data is retained for 90 days in aggregated form.

7. Your Rights

Since we don't store personal data tied to an identity, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. Contact us at admin@ishmitchat.com with any privacy questions.
